The Bonne Bay Historical Archive
The Bonne Bay Historical Archive:
At the heart of Gros Morne National Park, Bonne Bay has played a key role in the historical
development of Western Newfoundland. The Bonne Bay Historical Archive, now being assembled,
will be a physical & digital collection of materials and historical records, including
documents, photographs, family memoirs, church records, business ledgers, recordings, and
stories. Accessible to researchers, historians, local communities, and the general public,
it is already a valuable resource for those interested in local history, those researching
family histories, students, visitors and others curious about the development of the area. The
project, which began in late 2023, is focussing initially on the communities of Bonne Bay South
and Trout River. The Archive hopes, in the future, to collaborate with Rocky Harbour and Norris
Point, to build a community-based historical collection for the whole of the Bonne Bay area.
