Early Days of the Medical School at Memorial University: Memorial University's Medical School Faculty Recruitment Photographs, 1976-1977

Recruitment of new faculty was a critical piece in the development of the Medical School established in 1967 at Memorial University of Newfoundland. In the early years of the Medical School, those involved with recruiting new faculty traveled from time to time outside the province or country. Dr. Brian Payton, a member of the Faculty of Medicine and director of the newly formed Medical Audio Visual Service, decided to create a collection of three series of photographs about the Health Sciences Centre, Medical Audio Visual Service and the city of St. John's, which the recruiters would take to show to potential new faculty.
