Early Days Exhibit - Temporary Buildings, Faculty and Staff Photographs, 1969-79

Early Days of the Medical School at Memorial University: Memorial University Medical Faculty and Staff, Temporary Buildings, Photographs, 1969-1979

Faculty and staff were recruited for the most part from Newfoundland, other parts of Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. In the beginning these people were located in offices and laboratories in the Education Building of Memorial University of Newfoundland and at the General Hospital in the east end of St. John's. In the Spring of 1968, the provincial government committed over one million dollars for the construction of the Temporary Buildings, which would house the Faculty of Medicine until the mid 1970s.

The photographs contain images of the faculty and staff of the Medical School, workshops, laboratories, the library, medical equipment and aerial views of the facilities.
