Opening of the New Campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland

Monday, October 9th, 1961, goes into the record as a glorious and memorable day in the history of Newfoundland. It marks the occasion on which Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, a great person in her own right, the widow of a great President of the United States of America, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and the official emissary of the President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, on behalf of the Government of Newfoundland, formerly passes over to the Board of Regents and the Senate, whose responsibility it is to formulate policy and guide and govern its life and growth, the new campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland.
